This capacitor input device for inputting the capacitor 2 for improving a power factor to an AC power unit 1 by a semiconductor switch 4 serially connected to the capacitor is provided with: a voltage detecting part 5 for detecting a voltage between the both ends of the semiconductor switch 4; a deciding part 6 for deciding that a voltage detected by the voltage detecting part 5 is turned to be zero; and a gate drive circuit 11 for applying an ON signal to the semiconductor switch 4 when it is decided that the voltage between the both ends of the semiconductor switch 4 is turned to be zero by the deciding part 6.
