To provide a method for capturing and collecting cells, by which not only the removal-objective cells can be removed from a cell group in high yield by a simple operation, but also the collection-required cells can be collected in high yield.
In the cell-separating operation comprising a step for introducing a cell group at least including collection-required cells and removal-objective cells to a cell-separating filter for capturing at least the collection-required cells, a step for washing out the removal-objective cells remaining in the cell- separating filter by a rinsing liquid, and a step for introducing a collecting liquid to the cell-separating filter in the reverse direction of the flow of the cell group and the rinsing liquid to collect the collection-requiring cells captured in the cell-separating filter, the rinse is carried out by regulating the moving distance of the rinsing liquid in the cell-separating filter, represented by the formula [moving distance of the rinsing liquid (cm)]=[volume (cm3) of the rinsing liquid/porosity of filter medium]×[1/effective filtering cross section (cm3) of cell-separating filter] so as to be 0.4-4.0 cm in the method for capturing and collecting the cells.
