To provide a technology on a car navigation device capable of transmitting position information carried surely by the car navigation device directly to a portable terminal by a simpler operation than hitherto.
The car navigation device capable of transmitting/receiving information to/from the portable terminal by communication is equipped with a route searching part for searching for a route based on position information including present position information and destination information, a transmission part capable of transmitting route information to the destination as a route search result by the route searching part or the position information to the portable terminal, and a transmission control part for controlling a timing of transmission of the position information by the transmission part. When a vehicle is pertinent to a prescribed condition, the transmission control part transmits the route information and the position information to the portable terminal by the transmission part.
