Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route guide information easy to understand for the user by vocally notifying information around the vehicle and objects at right/left turn points.
SOLUTION: Road information, incidental facilities to the road and position information and names of objects such as shops are stored in a map database of the car navigator, the location and running direction of the vehicle are obtd. by a GPS receiver 2 or various sensors, information of the destination and routing points, etc., are inputted to search for a route on the map database 1, objects such as facilities and shops near an intersection within specified range from the current location of the vehicle on the route are obtd. according to the route search result, a guide sentence showing the relative position of the route to the object and running direction (e.g. 'obliquely right before a convenient store') is prepared, a guide voice database 5 is retrieved to convert the guide sentence to voice data, and the voice data is outputted from a speaker to guide the route vocally. The relative position of the object to the route can be easily understood and route guide each to find the running direction can be realized.
