PURPOSE:To relieve speed change shock at the time of shifting down by increasing the engine torque in parallel with the shiftdown action with an automatic speed changer, and thereby canceling the coast torque generated by the running inertia force of the car with the engine torque. CONSTITUTION:This automatic speed changer has speed change positions to be selected according to the car running condition, wherein the running inertia force of the car can be reversely transmitted top the engine in the specific speed change position. A means a to sense that the automatic speed changer is selected into the specific speed change position is furnished, together with a means b which is to sense the running condition of the car. Further is furnished a means c to calculate the amount of correction of physical parameters related to combustion so that the output of engine increases when the automatic speed changer is selected into the specific speed change position in the condition that the engine is revolving while receiving the running inertia force of the car during its deceleration. A means c is also furnished to control the physical parameters related to combustion in accordance with the calculated amount of correction.
