Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:(5R,6R)-3-( 2-Hydroxyethyl )sulfinyl-6-[1(S)-hydroxysulfonyloxyethyl]-7-oxo-1-azabicyclo[3,2,0]-hept-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid of formula (the configuration of S-oxide is R or S).
USE: It has β-lactamase inhibiting activity and is useful as an antibacterial agent and disinfectant.
PREPARATION: A bacterial strain belonging to Streptomyces genus and capable of producing PA-41746E and/or F, e.g. Streptomyces sp. PA-41746 (FERM-BP No. 174), etc. is cultured at 5.5W8.5pH and 25W32°C preferably in a deep, aerating tank.
