Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound, having a wide range of antimicrobial spectrum and useful as an antibiotic substance, etc., excellent in antimicrobial properties.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula I [R1 is H or protected hydroxyl group, etc.; R2 is (substituted)lower alkyl; R3 is H, inorganic or organic base or protected carboxyl; R4 is formula II (R5 is lower alkyl), etc.], e.g. p- methoxybenzyl (1S,6S)-1-methyl-2-((5S)-2-methylisoxazolidin-5-yl)-6-((R)-1triethylsilyloxyethyl)-1-carba-2-penem-3-carboxylate. Furthermore, this compound of formula I is obtained by, e.g. substituting the hydroxyl group in a compound of formula III with a halogen, converting the resultant compound into a phosphonium salt, further converting the obtained compound of formula IV (X1 is halogen; Y is alkyl or aryl) into a compound of formula V according to the Wittig reaction and then reacting the resultant compound of formula V with a hydroxylamine of the formula R5NHOH and formaldehyde.
