To obtain a compound useful as a labeling substance capable of labeling in a short time in high efficiency and having high sensitivity by introducing a chemoluminescent group into a carbodiimide compound.
This carbodiimide compound containing a chemoluminescent group is expressed by formula, B-N=C=N-L-CL (B is a univalent organic group bonding to carbodiimide; CL is a chemoluminescent group; L is a linker linking carbodiimide to the chemoluminescent group), preferably a compound of formula I (R is H or a 1-6C straight or branched-chain alkyl; X is a halogen; (p) is an integer of 1-12), e.g. the compound of formula II (Me is methyl). The objective compound is produced preferably by reacting a carbodiimide-containing compound of formula III (R' is a 1-6C straight or branched-chain alkyl) with a halogen-containing chemoluminescent compound of formula, CL-X. The compound produced by this process can be utilized as an effective label in nucleic acid detection or immunoassay.
