To provide a carbon binder having excellent adhesiveness of the binder especially under a temperature variation condition (heat-shock test) to repeat the high-temperature storage at 50C and the low-temperature storage at 0C.
The carbon binder contains a polymer obtained by polymerizing polymerizable monomers containing a conjugated diene compound, an aromatic vinyl compound and an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid, and an oxidation inhibitor. Especially, the carbon binder is a binder for a secondary battery electrode and contains a polymer containing a structural unit derived from a conjugated diene compound, a structural unit derived from an aromatic vinyl compound and a structural unit derived from an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid compound, and an oxidation inhibitor, wherein the amount of the oxidation inhibitor is 0.01-5.0 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the polymer. The invention further provides a method for producing the carbon binder.
