To obtain a porous body in which carbon is applied to the wall faces of pores.
Regarding the carbon-coated structure where, in a porous body 13 having a plurality of columnar pores almost vertical to a substrate 11, at least a part of the pore walls is coated with carbon 15, the porous body 13 is the one in which, from the structure where a columnar substance comprising the first component is dispersed into a matrix member comprising the second component capable of forming eutectic crystals with the first component, the columnar substance is removed to form the columnar pores. The porous body has a thin film shape. The columnar substance is aluminum. The matrix member is silicon, and also, the ratio of silicon in the structure lies in the range of 20 to 70 atomic%.
