Abstract:

To provide a carbon composition capable of giving a polarizable electrode for an electrochemical capacitor having a high electrostatic capacity at a high charging and discharging current of not less than 50 mA/cm2, preferably not less than 100 mA/cm2, to provide a method for manufacturing the carbon composition and to provide a capacitor for the electrochemical capacitor formed by using the above carbon composition.

The carbon composition containing 0.1-30 pts.mass fullerene relative to 100 pts.mass of an activated carbon and its manufacturing method are provided. Preferably, the fullerene is a fullerene C60 whose carbon numbers per 1 molecule are 60 and also has a spherical shape. In a preferable means for supporting the fullerene on the activated carbon, the activated carbon is dispersed in a solution obtained by dissolving the fullerene in an organic solvent and the resultant dispersion is subjected to the vacuum-filtering. The polarizable electrode for the electrochemical capacitor is formed by using the carbon composition.
