PURPOSE: To efficiently catch carbon dioxide by absorbing and desorbing a larger amount of carbon dioxide in small temp. difference using a carbon dioxide absorbent containing macrocyclic polyamine represented by a specific formula.
CONSTITUTION: A carbon dioxide absorbent contains macrocyclic polyamines represented by general formulae I-III (wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl group and (l), (m),(n) and (p) are respectively an integer of 2-8). This carbon dioxide absorbent containing macrocyclic polyamines is dissolved in an org. solvent. Next, gas containing carbon dioxide is brought into contact with this solution to absorb carbon dioxide in the solution and, subsequently, the solution is heated to desorb carbon dioxide. The absorbing temp. of carbon dioxide is -20-50°C and the desorbing temp. thereof is 50-120°C.
