To provide a carbon fiber composite material having excellent tensile elasticity and a method of producing the carbon fiber composite material.
The carbon fiber composite material comprises carbon fiber and a polypropylene impregnated in the carbon fiber. The crystallization rate of the polypropylene is 60% or higher. The method of a carbon fiber composite material includes a step of impregnating carbon fiber with the molten polypropylene and cooling the resultant product to crystallize the polypropylene so as to obtain a composite material of the carbon fiber and the polypropylene, a step of heating the composite material again to a temperature equal to or lower than the melting point of the polypropylene and a step of causing a gas soluble in the polypropylene to act on the composite material in a re-heated state at a pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure so as to make the gas contained in the polypropylene, in order to obtain the carbon fiber composite material.
