PURPOSE: To obtain a carbon fiber reinforced Al-Si alloy composite excellent in strength, at the time of manufacturing an Al-Si composite alloy metal material using carbon fiber as a reinforcing material, by using carbon fiber in which the value of the ratio of oxygen/carbon atoms on the surface is regulated to a specified range.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of manufacturing a carbon fiber reinforced Al-Si alloy composite using an Al-Si alloy contg. 1 to 8wt.% Si as a matrix and contg. carbon fiber as a reinforcing material, carbon fiber in which the value of the ratio of oxygen/carbon atoms on the surface obtd. by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is lies in ≤0.080 is used. The carbon fiber reinforced Al-Si alloy composite having extremely high strength can be obtd.
