To provide a carbon fiber structure-containing preform in which a metal matrix composite material has excellent thermal conductivity, to provide a method for producing the same, to provide a metal matrix composite material using the same, and to provide a method for producing the same.
Disclosed is a carbon fiber structure-containing preform produced by a production method for a carbon fiber structure-containing preform comprising: a stage (1) where a carbon fiber structure, an organic binder and a dispersion medium are mixed, so as to obtain a suspension; a stage (2) where the suspension is dried, so as to obtain a mixture; a stage (3) where the mixture is subjected to compression molding, so as to obtain a compression-molded body; a stage (4) where the compression-molded body is subjected to hardening treatment, so as to obtain a hardened compression-molded body; and a stage (5) where the hardened compression-molded body is fired, so as to obtain a carbon fiber structure-containing preform. Also disclosed is a metal matrix composite material obtained by impregnating the carbon fiber structure-containing preform with a melted matrix metal, and solidifying the same.
