Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preventing the breakage of an assembled carbon heater for a large-scale and high-temperature furnace.
SOLUTION: For the connection of a carbon heater 1, the design of a slit 6 for stress relaxation, a flexible graphite film 3 as a fastening cushion material and a slit screw are used. For the connection of the assembled carbon heater 1 with a diameter of 10 mm or more or a cross section of 1 cm2 or more used at a high temperature of 1000°C or mote, slits 6 are provided in either of the carbon heater and a carbon current electrode or the carbon heater and a carbon connecting member to connect carbon heaters together or both of them, or otherwise a flexible graphite film 3 is inserted into a contact face between a carbon bolt 4 to fasten and fix the connection and the carbon heater to connect the carbon heater thereto.
