To provide carbon-including refractory preventing shell deformation without lowering durability of lining in a vessel for molten metal, improving the service life of a can, preventing the molten steel temperature from lowering and suitable for lining of a vessel for molten metal for the purpose of reducing energy loss, and also to provide a vessel for molten metal, capable of reducing energy loss and having stable durability.
When this carbon-including unburned refractory material includes refractory aggregate and ≤30 wt.% carbon raw material including graphite at least as part, the relational expression λ≤0.8X+7 [where X (wt.%) is a carbon content in refractory and λ (W/m°C) is a thermal conductivity] exists, an apparent porosity is ≤0% and the refractory aggregate having >1 mm diameter is included in a content of ≥20 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. sum of the refractory aggregate and the carbon raw material. This vessel for molten metal is produced by lining the same refractory material.
