To provide a carbonization apparatus which can prevent a distillation gas from leaking from a carbonization furnace by a simple structure.
The carbonization apparatus has the carbonization furnace 21 to which a mixture is supplied, a conveyor shaft 26 penetrating the carbonization furnace 21, and a bearing 24 provided in the carbonization furnace 21 for rotatably supporting the conveyor shaft 26, and carbonizes the mixture inside a furnace body 22 of the carbonization furnace 21 while conveying it. The bearing 24 is provided with a chamber 245 to which a sealing gas is supplied from outside the carbonization furnace 21, and the chamber 245 is provided with a space 247 connecting its inside to the inside of the furnace body 22. The carbonization furnace 21 is provided with a distillation gas discharge part for discharging the sealing gas, introduced into the inside of the furnace body 22 through the space 247, outside the furnace body 22 when the sealing gas is supplied to the inside of the chamber 245 to render the inside pressure of this chamber 245 higher than that of the furnace body 22.
