To provide the subject new compound useful as a compound for inhibiting the bonding of selektin as a cell adhesion molecule to a sialyllewis x sugar chain.
A compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are each carboxyl or H; T is a group of formula II or an atomic group of the formula: (CH2)m [X is CH or N; (m) is 1 to 3], for example, 3-[4-(octadecanoylamino) benzoylamino]-3',4-oxydibenzoic acid. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting the nitro group of a nitro compound in the presence of a catalyst in a solvent under a flow of hydrogen at atmospheric pressure preferably at room temperature to 60°C, condensing the obtained amino compound with a carboxyl compound by an acid chloride method, subjecting the obtained compound to a reduction reaction or a protecting group-removing reaction, condensing the obtained compound, and subsequently allowing the obtained compound to react in the presence of an alkali in a solvent preferably at room temperature to 60°C for 15 min to 48 hr.
