Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering carboxylic acid from a magnesium carboxylate-containing aqueous mixture.SOLUTION: A method includes the steps of: contacting a magnesium carboxylate-containing aqueous mixture with an acidic ion exchanger and thereby forming a carboxylic acid mixture and an ion exchanger carrying a magnesium ion; contacting the ion exchanger carrying the magnesium ion and a hydrochloric acid solution and thereby forming a magnesium chloride solution; and thermal decomposing the magnesium chloride solution at a temperature of at least 300°C and thereby forming magnesium oxide (MgO) and hydrogen chloride (HCl).SELECTED DRAWING: None
