To prevent the compactness of a general carburetor from being impaired by disposing an intake passage in which an air valve forming a part of an air passage supplying scavenging air to an engine and interlocked with a throttle valve closely to the upper part of a carburetor body without being interfered with carburetor components.
Receiving flanges 9 are projectedly formed on the upper surface 1A both sides of the carburetor body 1, mounting flanges 17 formed on the bottom part both sides of an air passage body 11 with an air passage 13 are stacked on the receiving flanges 9, and the air passage body 11 is fixed to the carburetor body 1 through the clearance 19 thereof from the upper surface 1A of the carburetor body 1. The carburetor components projected from the upper surface 1A are stored in the clearance 19 and the air passage 13 is disposed closely to the upper part of the carburetor body where the components are not interfered with the air passage so as to reduce the size of the carburetor.
