To provide a carburetor that accelerates an engine start-up.
The carburetor for an internal combustion engine comprises a choke valve disposed in a fuel/air mixture passage upstream of a throttle valve and movable between an opening position and a closing position, a priming fuel passage in communication, for fuel supply, with the fuel/air mixture passage, and a priming valve retained in a main body of the carburetor. The priming valve is in communication with the priming fuel passage and has a valve seat and a valve head, which is energized into a closing position on the valve seat to block the flow of fluid passing the priming valve. The priming valve is movable into an opening state apart from the valve seat according as the choke valve moves from the opening position to the closing position, and supplies some quantity of fuel from the priming fuel passage to the fuel/air mixture passage to accelerate an engine start-up.
