To supply a sufficient quantity of fuel without delay when a throttle valve is opened quickly.
The carburetor comprises a member defining an air induction passage including a venturi, a member 51 disposed under the air induction passage defining member to define a fuel chamber, a fuel well located in the air induction passage defining member, connected to the fuel chamber and provided with a high-speed nozzle communicating with the venturi, and an enrichment fuel pump 61. The enrichment fuel pump 61 has a diaphragm 71 located between a cover 63 and the fuel chamber defining member 51 to define a fuel pumping chamber 73 and a variable pressure chamber 75, a duct communicating between the variable pressure chamber 75 and a portion of the air induction passage downstream of a throttle valve, an inlet conduit 113 communicating between the fuel chamber and the fuel pumping chamber 73 and including an inlet check valve 110 for permitting inflow into the fuel pumping chamber 73 and preventing outflow therefrom, and an outlet conduit communicating between the fuel pumping chamber 73 and the fuel well and including an outlet check valve for permitting outflow from the fuel pumping chamber 73 and preventing inflow thereinto.
