To prevent damage to a card inserted in a card holding mechanism and to reduce the amount of power consumption for the card holding mechanism.
The card holding mechanism for preventing an unintended discharging of the card 80 inserted from a card insertion opening 12 includes a first revolving lever 31 including an abutting piece 31A for having a front end edge of the inserted card 80 from the card insertion opening 12 abutted and a second revolving lever 33 having a closing section formed on one end section and having the closing section moved between a position closing the card insertion opening 12 and an opening position. Only the first revolving lever 31 is revolved when the card 80 is inserted and when the insertion of the card 80 is completed, the second revolving lever 33 is revolved by instantly energizing a stopper device and having the card insertion opening 12 closed by the closing section and having the first and second revolving levers 31, 33 simultaneously returned to initial positions when the card 80 is discharged.
