Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card processing apparatus having enhanced security performance against operations for unauthorized purpose.SOLUTION: A card reader 1 has a magnetic head 6, a front sensor 72, a rear sensor 82, and a state monitoring unit 100. The magnetic head 6 reads out information recorded in a card 2 housed in the card reader. The front sensor 72 detects insertion of the card 2 into the card housing portion from a card insertion portion. The rear sensor 82 is located on an inner side relative to the front sensor 72 in the direction of insertion of the card 2. If the rear sensor 82 detects insertion of the card 2 but the front sensor 72 does not detect insertion of the card 2, then the state monitoring unit 100 determines that the front sensor 72 is brought into its abnormal state and issues warning.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
