In the card processing apparatus, a claw member 60 carrying the card PA inside a card processing passage 5 is turnably supported by a turn member 80 through a shaft 81. An engaging part 69a of a drive bracket 69 turned by drive of a solenoid 61 engages with an engaged part 80a of the turn member 80 whose turn center is a shaft 66. The claw member 60 retreats in a direction perpendicular to a card face of the card PA from an advance position inside the card processing passage 5 by a guide 59a of a holder 59 through the turn member 80 by operating the solenoid 61.
