The card processing device includes a main conveyance path 5 for linearly extending from a card inserting port 2 and conveying a card; a standby path 6 for branching from the main conveyance path 5, conveying the card to a card collecting port 3 and temporarily holding the card on standby; a conveyance belt 17, arranged along the main conveyance path 5 and the standby path and conveying the card positioned on the main conveyance path 5 and the standby path; and a standby switching member 19 installed in a branch part, between the main conveyance path 5 and the standby path and switching the card conveyance either to the main conveyance path 5 or the standby path.
