Abstract:
To provide a card reader that prevents a metal member such as a ring worn by a user from being erroneously detected as a foreign matter.SOLUTION: A metal sensor 13 detects an object containing metal around a card reader 1. A metal determination unit 100 determines that there is an object, when an output of the metal sensor 13 exceeds a specific output threshold. When the metal determination unit 100 determines that there is an object, a variation calculation unit 110 calculates a variation corresponding amount corresponding to variation in the output of the metal sensor 13. An abnormality processing unit 120 determines whether the object is a foreign matter by the variation corresponding amount calculated by the variation calculation unit 110, and executes abnormality processing only when it is determined that the foreign matter is present.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
