Abstract:
To provide a card reader capable of detecting fraudulence of installation or the like of a skimming member even if the depth of a body part is shorter than a required length for performing processing to a card.SOLUTION: A card reader includes an insertion part for inserting a card and a body part connected to the insertion part, where the card is conveyed between a front position as a side closer to the insertion part in the body part and a rear position as a side far from the insertion part. In the card reader, a card detection sensor SW is provided in the insertion part, a sensor PD1 on a near side is provided so as to correspond to the front position, and a back side sensor PD3 is provided so as to correspond to the rear position. An alarm 1 is set when the card detection sensor SW is on, an alarm 2 is set if the back side sensor PD3 is on when the card should be in the front position, and an alarm 3 is set if the sensor PD1 on the near side is on when the card should be in the rear position. Fraudulence is detected according to a combination of the set alarms 1 to 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
