Abstract:
To provide a card reader and a transaction apparatus that do not need to change control in a host apparatus even when a handling of a card is changed from a manual type to an assist type using motor transfer or the like.SOLUTION: A card reader 1 includes a transfer mechanism 8 that transfers a card C along a transfer path 31, an entry sensor 85 that detects insertion of the card C into an insertion port 30, and a control unit 9. The control unit 9 causes monitoring of the insertion of the card by the entry sensor 85 to start by receiving an initialization command transmitted from a host apparatus 110, and causes carrying-in of the card C by the transfer mechanism 8 to start when detecting the insertion of the card C by the entry sensor 85. The control unit 9 causes carrying-out of the card C by the transfer mechanism 8 to start by receiving a card withdrawal monitor command transmitted by the host apparatus 110, and causes monitoring of the insertion of the card C by the entry sensor 85 to restart when detecting carrying-out of the card C by the entry sensor 85.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
