Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader capable of detecting even foreign matter having thinner width than that of a card when the foreign matter is inserted.
SOLUTION: This card reader is configured to convey a card in a card traveling path by a driving roller to be rotationally driven by a driving motor, and to detect the position of the card on the basis of a detection signal from a plurality of card position detecting sensors installed in the card traveling path to control the conveyance of the card. This card reader has an encoder which detects the number of rotation of the driving motor, and when an encoder pulse is generated from the encoder (a step 3(S3); YES), and any detection signal is not generated from the plurality of card position detecting sensors (a step 4(S4); NO), it is judged that any foreign matter has been inserted.
