A printer device 1 has a casing 2, a card feeding opening 14 arranged at one side of the casing 2, a printing section 50 carrying out predetermined recording to a card C fed from the feeding opening 14, a nip roller 45 for holding the card C when carrying the recording to the card C by the printing section 50, a magnetic encoder unit 80 arranged adjacent to the printing section 50 carrying out the predetermined recording to the card C held by the roller 45, and a card discharging opening 23 for discharging the card C recorded by the printing section 50 or the encoder unit 80. The feeding opening 14, the printing section 50, and the encoder unit 80 are arranged horizontally in series along the conveying direction of the conveyed card C, and the discharging opening 23 is arranged in one side of the casing 2 so that the feeding opening 14 and the discharging opening 23 may be arranged in a vertical direction.
