PURPOSE: To provide the subject apparatus enabling the good opening and piecing of textile fibers by disposing a rotatable cylinder the surface of which is provided with an endless metal saw tooth clothing, and a metal clothing comprising saw-tooth rails, and continuously varying the occupied density of the metal clothing on the stationary carding elements.

CONSTITUTION: This carding machine apparatus for textile fibers (for example, cotton or synthetic fibres) comprises a rotatable cylinder 4 the surface of which is provided with an endless metal saw tooth clothing 4a, and stationary carding elements 13, 14 comprising support members (for example, plate elements), which are arranged on their inner sides (base faces) with metal clothing 17 comprising saw-tooth rails 16, and which cover parts of the circumference of the cylinder 4, wherein the clothing 17 on the support member 15 and the clothing on the cylinder 4 are arranged opposite one another to form a carding area. Therein, the occupied densities B of the metal clothing 17 on the stationary carding elements 13, 14 are continuously increased in the direction of rotation (arrow A) of the cylinder 4, thereby enabling the good opening of the textile fibres, the separation of impurities, and the piecing of good textile fibres. Thus, a good carding work can be performed.
