To obtain a cariostatic and antiperiodontic composition having antibacterial activity against pathogenic bacteria for dental caries or periodontosis, highly safe and usable for a long period through daily dietary habits for the purpose of preventing dental caries or periodontosis, and to provide food products and compositions for oral cavity each using this composition.

This cariostatic and antiperiodontic composition comprises (A) -polylysine and/or a salt thereof and (B) at least one natural product-derived antibacterial ingredient selected from the group consisting of lysozyme, chitosan, Styrax japonica extract, white-cedar leaf oil, hinokitiol, a pectin decomposition product, forsythia fruit extract, Chrysanthemum Pallasianum extract, perilla leaf extract, mustard extract, Japanese horseradish extract, Phyllostachys pubescens extract, capsicum extract, Polygonum hydropiper extract, Aralia cordata extract, garlic extract, pimenta extract, fig extarct, mulberry extract, grape seed extract, pepper extract, Phyllostachys bambusoides extract, Origanum vulgare extract, rice hull extract, clove extract, ginger extract, sage extract, Phyllostachys nigra extract, grape pericarp extract, a Hokkoshi extract, yucca foam extract and rosemary extract.
