PURPOSE: To provide the title adhesive suitable for the production of thermoformed carpets satisfying either high-temperature or low-temperature drying conditions, consisting of a copolymer latex of specific physical properties obtained by emulsion polymerization of each specific three monomer components.
CONSTITUTION: The objective adhesive comprising a copolymer (10-110°C in glass transition temperature and 0.0015ml/sec in melt flow rate) latex can be obtained by emulsion polymerization of (A) 10-99.9wt.% of an acrylic alkyl ester (pref. n-butyl acrylate, (B) as unsaturated acid monomer, 0.1-20wt.% of pref. itaconic acid or (meth)acrylic acid, etc., and (C) as the other monomer, 0-89.9wt.% of pref. an aromatic vinyl- or conjugated diene-based monomer. The present adhesive also excellent in versatility can provide, thermoformed carpets with good balance of physical properties such as rigidity, thermoformability and heat-resistant shape retainability even under the condition of a low drying temperature.
