Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the controllability of a carriage driving device for performing the recording and reproducing of data on a record medium in an optical disk device or the like by eliminating a dead zone due to a speed- reduction mechanism and a power transmission mechanism.
SOLUTION: A head 24 being a carriage is movably supported by one pair of guides 25 and a spring 23 stuck to the head is engaged with a lead screw 22 connected to an ultrasonic motor 6. The head 24 is driven along the guides 25 by revolving the lead screw 22 with an ultrasonic motor 6, and by converting this rotation into a straight line movement with the spring 23. Since the lead screw 22 and the spring 23 are engaged elastically, it is not needed to manage a dimensional accuracy between them, and also since the dead zone due to backlash is eliminated, the controllability of a head drive is enhanced.
