To provide a carriage frame for a rail vehicle attaining reduction of man-hours for work such as welding, finishing and distortion removal and quality improvement through reduction of a welding amount and abolishment of hem forming work with respect to a welding part between a lateral beam steel pipe and a component to be mounted on the steel pipe, a method of manufacturing the same, and the carriage for the rail vehicle with the carriage frame.
While using a hydraulic pressing method or the like, an expansion part including a flat expansion part 15 and a corner expansion part 16 is formed in the steel pipe of a lateral beam. By joining the end portion 8a of a bracket 8 to the expansion part, the welding bead width of linear welding 10 can be reduced and forming of a hem of the bracket end portion by beads can be abolished, thereby reducing a welding amount. Thus, a required finishing range can also be made narrow and production of welding distortion can also be suppressed, thereby reducing man-hours for work steps of the welding, finishing and distortion removal. A welded joint can also be made into a joint such as a butted joint that can be welded relatively easily by expansion forming, thereby improving welding quality.
