Title:
CARRIAGE MECHANISM FOR THERMAL TRANSFER PRINTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60171189
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To skip a ribbon taking-up operation with a simple construction, by a method wherein the rotation of a take-up shaft for an ink ribbon is restrained and the restraint is released by a drive source for pressing a thermal head against a platen and a spring member.

CONSTITUTION: When printing, a carriage is moved rightward by rotating a carriage motor, and a belt 9 is moved in the direction of an arrow A to rotate a pulley 39. In addition, a solenoid 29 is operated to attract a plunger 30, whereby the head 6 is pressed against a paper 13 on the platen 11 through a pressing spring mechanism 36, and engagement of a pawl 32C provided at the tip of a lever 32 and a gear 38, and the ribbon take-up shaft 28 is rotated. When the operation of the solenoid 29 is stopped at the time of skipping and at the time of returning the carriage, the lever 32 is pushed back by the recoil strength of a spring in the spring mechanism 36 to engage the pawl 32C to the gear 38, causing a slip between the gear 38 and a gear 39, whereby the take-up shaft 28 is restrained from being rotated.
