To provide a carriage system capable of efficiently operating a plurality of carriages which travel along a course having a linear part and a curved part, such as an endless course, and preventing circumferential speed of the carriages at the outer peripheral part from being too fast even in the curved part.

A plurality of carriages 52 align in series and travel along travelling guides 52A, 52B. The system is equipped with a driving rope 65 in parallel with the travelling guides 52A, 52B and moving to the length direction, and a carriage in-between connection member 63 for connecting the carriages 52. Each carriage 52 is equipped with a clamp mechanism 72 freely connected with and disconnected from the driving rope 65. A clamp mechanism operating means 79 makes the clamp mechanism 72 in a connected state with the driving rope 65 when the carriages 52 travel along the linear parts 52aA, 52aB of the travelling guides. The clamp mechanism operating means 79 makes the clamp mechanism 72 in a disconnected state from the driving rope 65 when the carriages 52 travel along the curved parts 52bA, 52bB of the travelling guides.
