To provide a carriage type transport device using a tractor, usable in transporting automobile bodies in an automobile assembling line in which a transport carriage of a flat low floor structure is used.
The carriage type transport device using a tractor comprises a transport carriage 2 having front wheels 5 and rear wheels 6, and a self-traveling tractor 1 with at least a rear end side getting into a front end lower side of the transport carriage 2, and is provided with a connection means 41 comprising a vertical shaft body and a connection hole vertically fit in each other with respect to the front end lower side of the transport carriage 2 and the tractor 1 under the same, wherein the transport carriage 2 is provided with a tractor lifting means 56 which is engageable/disengageable with respect to a part of the tractor 1, which is intruded into the under side of the transport carriage 2. When the tractor 1 is lifted by the tractor lifting means 56, at least drive wheels 7a, 7b of the tractor 1 float from a floor face.
