Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled carrier having stable triboelectric charge characteristics, superior durability and a long life by coating the surface of a core material with a resin contg. trialkylamine as a charge controller.

CONSTITUTION: A compound represented by formula I (where each of R1, R2 and R3 is alkyl), e.g., trioctylamine represented by formula II is used as a charge controller. About 0.5W15wt% said compound and a solvent such as toluene are added to a resin such as a styrene-methyl methacrylate copolymer having ≥about 60°C glass transition temp. They are mixed to prepare a resin composition soln., and the soln. is applied to an inorg. core material for a carrier such as glass or iron powder of about 30W1,000μm grain size. By drying the soln., a coating of about 0.1W30μm thickness is formed to obtain a carrier for developing an electrostatic charge image.
