PURPOSE: To obtain a carrier for immobilization providing an immobilized bio-catalyst capable of maintaining highly catalytic ability for a long period by coating the surface of porous ceramic with a specific electrolytic substance of polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of porous ceramic particles are coated with an electrolytic substance of polymer which contains plural atomic groups having electric charge opposite to surface charge formed from the ceramic in water, is linked to ceramic by ion bond and further contains plural liberated ionic groups. In the case wherein the ceramic has negative surface charge, preferably the atomic groups are amine and the polymer electrolyte is a polyamine or pyridinium derivative. On the other hand, when the ceramic has positive surface charge, the atomic groups are preferably carboxylic acid or sulfonic acid.
