To provide a carrier suitable for use in a hydrogen refining catalyst which efficiently diminishes CO is a hydrogen-base and CO-containing gas obtained by steam reforming of hydrocarbon while suppressing generation of methane and to provide a method for producing the carrier and a hydrogen refining catalyst using the carrier.

The carrier comprises moldings containing an aluminum compound having a hydroxyl group (such as transition alumina whose crystal phase is ρ, η, γ, χ or θ) and zeolite (such as A type zeolite, X type zeolite, Y type zeolite or ZSM-5) and is for a hydrogen refining catalyst which diminishes carbon monoxide in a gas comprising hydrogen, carbon monoxide and steam.
