To provide a carrier position exchanging system capable of exchanging mutual position on a carrying passage of a plurality of carriers provided reciprocally along a linear carrying passage through an inexpensive and simple arrangement while saving the space.
An initial position P1 and a waiting position P2 are set on a linear rail 20B while being spaced apart from each other and a work position P3 is set between both positions P1 and P2. When a carrier, i.e. a stacking jig 22B, is carried from the initial position P1 through the waiting position P2 and the work position P3 to the initial position P1, and a slide member 50 is carried from the initial position P1 through the work position P3 to the waiting position P2 while holding one stacking jig 22B, other stacking jig 22B at the work position P3 is shifted to a retreat position separated from the rail 20B through action of a carrier retreat mechanism. Consequently, mutual position of the stacking jigs 22B can be exchanged easily using a single slide member 50.
