To provide carrier tape paper capable of obtaining a carrier tape which can be successfully used without causing traveling failure even after stored in high-temperature high-humidity conditions, etc. and has excellent bonding performance with a top cover tape, etc.
The carrier tape paper includes base paper comprising multilayer combination paper and having 300 μm or more of average thickness, and a surface preparation agent including at least a surface sizing agent and wax as main components is provided to appear at least one of a surface and a back face of the base paper. In the carrier tape paper, cross sectional water-absorbing capacity is 600 s or more and 900 s or less (wherein, the cross sectional water-absorbing capacity is the number of seconds required until pieces of the carrier tape paper obtained by superposing pieces of carrier tape paper at 10 kg/cm2 of a load in a range where the thickness thereof is 40 mm or more and 50 mm or less and then, cutting the pieces in the paper flowing direction by a paper cutter completely absorb one drop of pure water made to fall instead of light oil with respect to the cut faces in accordance with the oil absorbency testing method described in JIS-P3001 (1976)).
