The recorder 1 of the present invention is provided with a drawing-in mechanism 56 for guiding paper P to a carrying reference position H along the carrying route for leading the paper P to a printing section 43. The drawing-in mechanism 56 has a pressing member 81 movable between a pressing position along the carrying reference position H and a standby position away from the carrying reference position H. The pressing member 81 disposed in the standy position moves to the pressing position when the leading end of the paper P in its carried direction is put in between the pressing member 81 and the carrying reference position H, and guides the leading end of the paper P to the carrying reference position H.
