Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce restrictions on designing of a magnetic card-compatible passbook printer using a dedicated magnetic card holder to enable reduction in size and weight of the printer.
SOLUTION: A magnetic card 100 is set to a dedicated card holder 200, and then processed by a passbook printer 300. This passbook printer 300 has a magnetic head 305 which can perform reading of a magnetic stripe of a passbook, printing to the passbook and printing to a form. A card holder 200 is carried by a carrying roller 311 and the like. A controlling means can detect the length of the card holder 200 by an input port sensor 341. The controlling means matches the position of the magnetic stripe 105 with the position of the magnetic head 305, and the magnetic head 305 performs reading. The control means can determine whether data read by the same magnetic head 305 is data of the magnetic card 100 or data of the passbook depending on its format.
