To save a space on the bottle conveyor side, and reduce the cost by a method wherein a vertically movable means which vertically moves a bottle holding means to grip a container on a table where a plurality of lines of containers can be loaded, is provided, and the holding of the containers on the table, and the insertion into a case are made possible by a vertival movement of the bottle gripper.

On the downstream side of a carrying means 2 for a container B, a table 8 is arranged, and this caser is equipped with a table moving means which makes the table 8 advance or retract, a bottle holding means, and a vertically moving means which vertically moves the holding means. Then, when a detecting means 44 detects that containers for one row are fed on the table 8, the feeding of containers is stopped by a stopper 42, and after the table 8 is moved, the stopper 42 is released, and containers for the next row are fed. Then, after containers for a specified number of rows have been fed, the table 8 is moved, and the containers are gripped by lowering the bottle holding means. Then, after making the table 8 retract, the bottle holding means 10 is lowered, and the containers are housed in a case.
