Abstract:
To provide a cast iron brake block which is insoluble in a cast iron material and has excellent adhesion property, and in which crack hardly reaches a steel plate even when a brake block is cracked, its manufacturing method, a steel plate for an insert used in the same, and a coating agent.SOLUTION: In a cast iron brake block 1 including a back plate 2 composed of a steel plate for an insert, and a cast iron brake block main body 4 stacked on a lower face of the back plate 2, a crack barrier layer 3 including heat-proof inorganic fine particles, is formed on at least an iron brake block main body-side surface of the back plate 2. The heat-proof inorganic fine particles are preferably at least one selected from zircon (ZrSiO), aluminum oxide (Al), magnesium oxide (MgO), and mullite (3AlO2SiO).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
