Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the working quantity and obtain a smooth surface of a worked surface onto which the vacant holes in material are hardly exposed, by allowing the vacant holes generated during the coagulation process are collapsed by the plastic working in the surface layer of a cast material including the smooth surface of a product. CONSTITUTION:When the surface layer 8 of a cast member is heated at a temperature permitting easy plastic deformation, and shot peening is applied onto the surface layer 8 simultaneously or continuously by a steel ball group, the metal part around a vacant hole is hot-plastic deformed by the impact force of the steel balls 1 which collide incessantly onto the surface of the member, not only in case of a flat surface 9 but in case of a curved surface, and the pin hole 2 in the surface layer 8 and the vacant hole of a shrinkage cavity can be efficiently collapsed and press-attached. Therefore, a machining allowance part is set inside the surface layer 8, and even if this allowance is removed by machining, no recessed part caused by the vacant hole is generated. Further, a metal product having a necessary smooth surface can be obtained with a little working quantity.
